Maddy's Tips and Tricks for Staying Positive

The Boston instructor did a stint in Los Angeles before moving to the East Coast, loves breakfast sandwiches and hazelnut lattes, and just so happens to be one of the most positive, bubbly people you will ever meet. In an attempt to emulate even one tenth of her happy energy, SOUL caught up with Maddy to learn her ways.
1. Do you have any mantras you use when life is bringing you down?
Oh, mantras are what basically keep me going. They are like your little reminders to keep shining and keep on keeping on. One that I've been using a lot lately is, "It doesn't get easier, you just get stronger." I say it over and over until whatever I'm doing doesn't seem as bad anymore. To be honest, when my alarm goes off at 4:30AM for my Roosters, this mantra gets me out the door every time.
2. What tips or tricks do you use to stay positive and energetic?
This is kind of another mantra, but it's one of my best tips: "Protect your magic." As instructors, we open ourselves up to a lot of people, and that comes with a lot of different exchanges of energy. We all give so much in that room, and everyone brings a lot of different things into it: good, bad, happy, sad, angry, and everything in-between. I think it's important to remember that when I leave the studio I do exactly that... LEAVE IT ALL IN THERE.
