IAN MCANDREW

FOOD I EAT EVERY DAY: It's usually either pasta or a burger… I'm a creature of habit.

CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT MY: Midday Nap.

WHAT I'M READING NOW: I don't read. I'm pretty sure I'm illiterate.

FAVORITE MOVE ON THE BIKE: Quick-fires!!

BEST PIECE OF HEALTH ADVICE I'VE RECEIVED: Every body is made differently, so not everything works for every person.

MY FAVORITE SNACK: Chocolate chip cookies #health

SIMPLEST WAY TO EASE STRESS IS: Nap.

THE HEALTH TREND I WILL NEVER TRY: Gluten-free anything. Nope, nope, nope. I want REAL pasta. REAL bread. REAL gluten!

MY CURRENT MANTRA: Life is too short to worry about those poor people who don't understand just how incredible you are. Janet taught me that.

FAVORITE MOVE ON THE BIKE: Tap Back, Push ups with a side of HAIR-OGRAPHY

BEST PIECE OF HEALTH ADVICE I'VE RECEIVED: Research shows that a 3:1 to 4:1 ratio of carbohydrates to protein supports glycogen replenishment immediately post-workout. A homemade protein/fruit smoothie made with coconut water is my favorite.

MY FAVORITE SNACK: Oreos!

SIMPLEST WAY TO EASE STRESS IS: Deep breathing with my eyes closed or a good hot yoga class!

THE HEALTH TREND I WILL NEVER TRY: "Tea-toxing" or FitTea trend that a lot of celebrities have been endorsing! But I love green tea!

MY CURRENT MANTRA: "My potential is unlimited."


ANTHONY FRANJOINE

FOOD I EAT EVERY DAY: Everything. No, but really! Carbs keep me alive. Fruit, smoothies, bountiful bowls filled with lean protein (chicken, beef or fish), grains, leafy veggies, something crunchy (LOVE me some celery moments), plus an added heat (hot sauce or jalapenos)

CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT MY: Lip balm.

FOOD I EAT EVERY DAY: Lately I have been over the moon obsessed with Perfect Bars. You can find them in a refrigerated section of Whole Foods or online. My favorites are Peanut Butter and Carob Chip.

CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT MY: Laptop! This little baby has lasted ten years and I swear I'm going to weep when I have to get a new one. (That being said, the new gold MacBook Pro is looking mighty pretty).

WHAT I'M READING NOW: Modern Romance by Aziz Ansari 

FAVORITE MOVE ON THE BIKE: Honestly, I'm happiest when I'm pushing my body through resistance up a hill.

BEST PIECE OF HEALTH ADVICE I'VE RECEIVED: It had to be to really and truly step back and look at the amount of processed sugar I was putting into my body. It's been, hands down, the biggest game0changer health wise for me.

MY FAVORITE SNACK: Peanut Butter Banana Protein Goodness (one frozen banana, a single serving packet of Earth Butter, unsweetened almond milk, a scoop of Vega One Chocolate Protein Powder, a handful of ice cubes and some chia seeds. Blend it together and drink up!)

SIMPLEST WAY TO EASE STRESS IS: I'm working on this one. I do love a good massage though.

THE HEALTH TREND I WILL NEVER TRY: A juice cleanse. I need food or I get HANGRY.

MY CURRENT MANTRA: "The great stories are not always the comfortable stories."

FOOD I EAT EVERY DAY: Almond butter. On bananas, in smoothies, or straight out of a to-go Justin's pack. Not sure if it's every day but it's definitely the most frequent. 

CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT MY: Laptop. 

WHAT I'M READING NOW: The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

FAVORITE MOVE ON THE BIKE: Pushes against resistance  

BEST PIECE OF HEALTH ADVICE I'VE RECEIVED: Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.  

MY FAVORITE SNACK: Smoothies, snap pea chips or like just one taco. 

SIMPLEST WAY TO EASE STRESS IS: Put on your favorite tune and rock out.  

THE HEALTH TREND I WILL NEVER TRY:  A carb-free diet. Pasta for life! 

MY CURRENT MANTRA: Life will put you through difficult situations. Don't say "why me," say "try me."

FOOD I EAT EVERY DAY: Avocado toast with an egg + Cold Brew - Both from Reveille, a local cafe in The Castro. 

CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT MY: Social media — I obsessively check it. It's actually a huge problem. 

WHAT I'M READING NOW: The Happiness Advantage by Sean Achor

FAVORITE MOVE ON THE BIKE: Fast sprints in the saddle. I love seeing how fast I can get my legs to go. 

BEST PIECE OF HEALTH ADVICE I'VE RECEIVED: There is no perfect diet, workout, exercise, or overall health plan. It's the big secret that all the smartest people know, and yet it's the least shared health message. Make your focus what works for you, and anything you do in fitness and nutrition becomes a lot more effective and a lot less stressful. Oh, and have fun. It's supposed to be fun. 

MY FAVORITE SNACK: Chips and guac. I'm from California, duh! 

SIMPLEST WAY TO EASE STRESS IS: Tequila? JK (kind of.) I hop into a yoga class any time I know I have a stressful event coming up. I did A LOT of yoga leading up to the first SoulCycle class I ever taught. 

THE HEALTH TREND I WILL NEVER TRY: JUICE CLEANSES. I have tried this but will never do it again. 

MY CURRENT MANTRA: Live in the space between uncomfortable and impossible.

FOOD I EAT EVERY DAY: Avocado! Somehow, someway I incorporate it into my every day.

CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT MY: Purple shampoo for my bleached hair!!  

WHAT I'M READING NOW: Reading/doing The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron

FAVORITE MOVE ON THE BIKE: Tap back push-up!

BEST PIECE OF HEALTH ADVICE I'VE RECEIVED: If you can't pronounce the ingredients on the label, don't eat it!

MY FAVORITE SNACK: Avocado toast (shocker.)

THE HEALTH TREND I WILL NEVER TRY: Cutting out carbs… CARBS4LYFE.

FOOD I EAT EVERY DAY: Burrito from WholeFoods, cheap, filling, delicious and always plenty of yummy vegan choices to make my own

WHAT I'M READING NOW: Diet for a New America by John Robbins 

FAVORITE MOVE ON THE BIKE: Just riding and jamming out to the music. Sometimes you just gotta ride the wave of the music!

BEST PIECE OF HEALTH ADVICE I'VE RECEIVED: You are what you eat, the peace and health of your mind, body and this world start on your plate. 

MY FAVORITE SNACK: Any fruit that's in season.

SIMPLEST WAY TO EASE STRESS IS: Laugh!

THE HEALTH TREND I WILL NEVER TRY:  No need for health trends. Embody health. Eat nutritiously with compassion and awareness for our planet and others sharing this space and stay active and stretch as much as you move. That's all the trend you need.

MY CURRENT MANTRA: Always choose love first… and: Don't let the cloud of emotion in the moment take away your clarity and the truth of a situation.
