ART + SOUL

“Word Ninja” Jill Kargman Dishes on SOUL, Spirit Animals and Stacey G.

riter, creator and star of Bravo’s "Odd Mom Out" Jill Kargman shares the one thing she thinks women should try at least once, why she avoids post-SOUL snacks, how she fell in love with tapping it back and more…

First ride memory?
My friend Marcie DRAGGED ME kicking and screaming. Stacey Griffith was teaching on East 83rd Street in NYC and I was freaked by the scene at first. That was in 2010. I haven't stopped since.

Favorite song to ride to?
“Closer” by Nine Inch Nails, which Daniel plays a lot.

Rooster or owl?
Rooster. Usually with Emily Turner, who has the perfect Rooster personality — perky, but not annoyingly perky.

The word in the SoulCycle mantra that best describes you is…
Uh... slug? I'm a lazy person who is NONE of those, but when the music is killer I feel like a warrior.

Tap-back or push-up?
TAP-BACK!

Climb or sprint?
Sprint.

One pound, two pound, three pound or five pound weights?
Two pound.

If you could ride next to anyone, who would it be?
Kelly Ripa — she’s a pal and so tiny but so strong and inspiring.

Favorite post-ride snack?
I'm actually nauseous for a good hour after riding...

First thing you do when you wake up?
Coffee tsunami!

Last app you used on your phone?
Sirius/XM Radio.

Spirit animal?
Morticia Addams.

What should every woman try once in her life?
Living alone.

Best last compliment someone gave you?
Someone said I was a “word ninja.”

You can’t leave the house without your ____.
Filofax.

Number one pet peeve?
Those high boots, but with toes out.

Three things that are always in your SoulCycle locker?
My phone, a hoodie and a Chrome messenger bag.

I knew I loved SOUL when…
MB, who is now in LA, beat me down with inspiring language that made me sweat buckets.
