What should I expect if I am new to indoor cycling?

One of the best things about indoor cycling is that it can be adapted to any fitness level. With the ability to adjust the resistance level on the bike, one can gauge the level of the workout to suit each rider's abilities. With every class comes a new level of confidence and strength.

How many calories are burned per class?

This all depends on the weight of the individual and the amount of exertion used. Research indicates that on average, indoor cyclists burn from 400-550 calories in a 45 minutes workout.

Will this class bulk up my thighs?

When we "climb" we increase our resistance and work on lower body strength building. Legs are sculpted and metabolisms are boosted. Since climbs rarely last for more than a few minutes, there is not enough time to build bulk.

Is there anyway to make the seat more comfortable?
As a beginner, the seat and the bike in general require a little getting used to. During this phase it sometimes helps to wear padded bike shorts or use a cushioned gel seat. In a short period of time you won't necessarily need either.
Do cycling shoes really make a difference and if so, what type should I get?

Cycling shoes do offer a more secure position in the pedals enabling the cyclist to work much more efficiently. Pedal strokes become more powerful. Any bike shoe will do. We recommend "Look" cleats for indoor cycling bikes.

Do you have childcare in the studio?

No. Unfortunately we don't.
