  • Let Me Show U

SoulCycle Master Instructor, Kym Perfetto, just released her first single "Let Me Show U." I guess it's not enough that she's an award-winning racer with perfect abs... she also has to be an uber-talented musician! Kym wrote the chords and lyrics while DJ Fakemoney worked his magic on the 80s synthesizer. She promises to deliver another dance track in Spring.

    We'll be waiting.

  • Meet Taye

Meet Lataysha Johnson, or as we like to call her, Taye. This little fashionista is making a big splash in the Dale. If you haven't tried her class yet, you're in for a treat. Sign up, turn the resistance up and tear it up!

5 things you may not know about me...

    1. I am obsessed with the fashion world. I am a fashion designer and an artist.

    2. Since I was 10, my mother's trained me in cosmetology.

    3. I am South Indian and African American.

    4. I love cooking and decorating my apartment.

    5. I can watch Sex in the City all day long.

    My class is unique because...

I’m bringing new flava in your ear. My class is about beat and rhythm. It's all about dropping into the music and allowing it to let your soul glow. I highly embrace resistance because that’s where the transformation and reshaping comes into play. I believe in pushing yourself out of your comfort zone and breaking new boundaries. It’s all a mind thing, if you tell yourself that you can make it to the finish line, you will achieve your goal. All you have to do is connect with your powerhouse and breathe. And all the while, we preserve our sexy and make every move look effortless. “Like it, love it, own it!”

    My favorite designers are...

Alexander McQueen, Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs, Jean Paul Gaultier, and the list still goes on. They are chic, raw, unique, clever, and edgy. They allow you to see things in a different light and they always go beyond the obvious.

If I have an hour to myself, I’m...

Listening to music looking for inspiration.

God is very important to me. He is the reason why I breathe.

    My friends know me as...

    The ambitious one.

  • Meet Jolie

Meet JOLIE WALSH. Hailing from San Juan Puerto Rico, Jolie has a background in teaching, music, dance and fitness. Sound like the perfect SoulCycle cocktail? We thought so too.

    Drink it up!

5 things you may not know about me...

    1.  I was a pre-school teacher and recorded a CD of Broadway tunes for kids.

    2.  I'm obsessed with cooking and the Food Network Channel.

    3.  I'm an Opera Singer and Musical Theatre performer (Mimi in La Boheme, Norina in Don Pasquale, Maria in the European Tour of West Side Story).

    4.  I'm constantly reading health and self help books - always trying to find ways to better myself (sounds cheesy, I know).

    5.  I love hosting parties - I'm usually the one in charge of family events, friends' get togethers, birthday parties, etc.

    My class is unique because...

My latin Soul keeps class spicy, my musical background takes playlists to another level, and my passion and spirit motivate riders to move beyond their comfort zone.  You'll leave the class feeling like you've accomplished something - anything you want is possible if you put your mind and soul to it.

    My favorite stores are...

Club Monaco and Jimmy Choo's....and obsessed with Lululemon.

If I have an hour to myself...

I'm working out (spinning, yoga, running, etc) or getting a mani/pedi.

My husband is very important to me.

    My friends know me as...

Lucille Ball (I Love Lucy) meets Sofia Vergara (Modern Family).

  • Soul Plates

We've heard not one but TWO stories of children pointing to this plate at Target and yelling "SoulCycle!" Raising a generation of Soul Kids... love it!!

  • Meet Roarke

Meet Roarke Walker, a dog-loving, California native who understands that exercise is more than just a physical experience. His class lets you do one of the main things we try to achieve at SoulCycle --  it lets you "workout whatever you need to work out." Does it get any better?

5 things you may not know about me...

    1. I'm the youngest of four boys and all of our names start with R's.  Rick, Ryan, R.J., and Roarke. Dad's name is Rick also and we had a dog named Roadie. Holidays are a bit confusing for Mom.
    2. My name is Gaelic for "famous ruler."
    3. I've been lucky enough to travel to some pretty amazing places - one of my favorites being Zimbabwe.
    4. I'm partial to Golden Retrievers. I've been known to abruptly stop in the middle of the sidewalks upon the sight of one.
    5. I could eat mexican food everyday.. and most of the time I do.

    My class is unique because...

One of the big things that attracted me to SoulCycle in the first place was the encouragement to bring your whole self to each ride. Not only is each class a great workout but it can also be a therapeutic experience. I try in each class to create a safe and fun environment in which I ask each rider to really check in with how they are feeling in the moment.  Also, I encourage riders to not be afraid to put those feelings into their ride - every time. Permission to use everything that's going on with you that day, hour, minute.  Everyone can have the opportunity to workout whatever they need to work out - it's not just about your body.

    My favorite writer is...

John Steinbeck. I think because I grew up in the part of California that he was from and wrote about (Monterey), the imagery is so real to me. His style is very simple too. Simple but powerful. I like that.  East of Eden - probably my favorite book.

If I have an hour to myself...

And I'm not listening to Pandora or searching for new music, I'm catching up on my favorite T.V. shows. There's SO much good TV right now!  The Good Wife, Nurse Jackie, Californication, Modern Family, Mad Men to name a few.. and finding a replacement for my all time favorite - Friday Night Lights. I hear The Wire is amazing? If you have suggestions, please see me after class.. thank you.

Family is very important to me.

I have 7 nieces and nephews ranging from ages 18 months-12 years old;  and if you ask me, I will show you all of them on my iphone. That's right...I'm a proud uncle.

    My friends know me as...

The loyal one. Or the "are you gonna eat that?" one.

  • Meet Rique

Meet Rique Uresti. A recent NY transplant with California cool, Rique embodies SoulCycle's mind, body, cardio philosophy. He's only been here a month, but he's already making big waves. We recommend you check out his class now...before you have to fight to get in.

5 things you may not know about me...
    1) I will be forty at some point.
    2) I was a fat kid.
    3) I can sing (but I'm shy about it).
    4) I can't use chopsticks.
    5) I obsess over the care and happiness of animals.

    My class is unique because...

It's more than just a physical ride.  I have always been the type of person to push and strive for the impossible and I'm happy if I even scratch at the goal. A fun memorable journey, trying hard and believing in my efforts is a million times better than arriving at the finish line first.

My favorite designer of the moment
    is...
Lazaro in Soho. OMG I walked into the store and I think I shed a tear. I was hoping I wouldn't spend my life savings on their amazing things!

If I have an hour to myself, I'm...

Listening to music or walking aimlessly in this great city. (Thats the answer I want to give, but lets get real, I'm probably napping!)

Trust  is very important to me.

My friends, who are really like family to me, know me as...
The dependable one. I just get it done.

  • Cee-Lo

This week, for our free music Monday Twitter series, we gave away the cover of “Radioactive” (originally a Kings of Leon song) by the soul singer and rapper Cee-lo.

After years of working in the music industry, Cee-lo Green, full name Thomas DeCarlo Callaway,  is finally getting the solo attention he deserves. Cee-lo began singing in the church where his parents worked and by 18, he had joined the hip-hop group Goodie Mob.
