Soul Transformation: Week 4

It's Monday -- time to sign up for classes and check in with CARLY HANDLER.  This week, Carly tells Soul about her numerous rides and what it's like to have your resistance turned up by Laurie Cole.  It happens to the best of us...

This week's weight loss: 2 lbs

Total weight loss:  7 lbs

I broke the 1 pound streak this week... down 2 more!  Over the past 3 days I took 3 classes and ran 10 miles.  Overall my diet was good (still not perfect, but getting better each week) and the planning ahead is definitely keeping me on track.

Monday - finally got that Monday morning run in that I had been snoozing past, it was a great way to start the week.

Tuesday - Nick's 6:30 UES.  "There are 24 hours in a day, you are here 1 of them.  What are you doing for your mind/body the other 23 hours?" I was very tempted to do my first double and stay for the 7:30, but I ended up leaving after the first class.  However, overheard this conversation between 2 friends in the lobby "wow, 2 classes back to back"...."yes, I am on a mission".  Whoever that person was, there mission definitely motivated and inspired me.  A double is definitely something I plan on working up to.

Wednesday - 5 mile run at the gym (after work!).

Thursday - day off

Friday - jogged uptown to Lindy's 6:00 Soul Survivor UES.  The thing I love most about soul survivor is the extra push you get without even noticing the time. On a side note, if it wasn't for the 6:00 class on Friday, I would have totally skipped working out that day.  I went out to dinner and after working that hard, the extra calories I would have normally ordered were not worth it.  I stuck to a salad (dressing on side) and skipped the bread basket.

Saturday - Laurie's 10:45 in Tribeca.  Something happened during this class that has yet to happen.  I had my resistance increased by none other than yours truly, Laurie Cole.  Here I thought I was pushing myself up the hill and then she cranked up my resistance a full turn to the right (if not more) and said "this is how you change your body".  Now I have a new benchmark of what getting to the top of the hill really means and what I am really capable of.  After all, you are only cheating yourself by not going beyond what you think your limit is.  Class ended with the perfect last song, "Empire State of Mind"

Sunday - Jenny's 5:00 class in Tribeca.  I was definitely feeling pretty exhausted before class, who isn't exhausted on a Sunday?  There was great energy and music so it took me all of 30 seconds to get focused and moving.  I even made sure that my resistance was challenging (the new challenging that I learned on Saturday) on the hills and my speed was fast on the sprints.

This was a great week of classes and workouts and I continue to be more motivated and committed to my goal as the weeks progress.  This is one strong and inspiring community!
Stay tuned...
