Meet Jenny

Here on the Soul Blog, SoulCycle will be starting an interview series with each of our instructors.  This will be a chance for riders to find out everything from what makes their class unique to which artists inspire them.  First up... Jenny Gaither

5 things you may not know about me:

1.  I grew up on a farm in Santa Cruz, California where my family
raised cattle, horses, chickens, and goats. I had an "eggs for sale" stand instead of lemonade. I grew up eating all home grown fruits, vegetables, and meat, and held the title as "Ms. Junior Pumpkin" at the county fair for winning the giant pumpkin contest.

2.  At age seven I became an international competitive dancer, with a focus in ballet, tap, jazz, and hip hop. In high school I danced with a prestigious contemporary dance company, The Dance Company of San Francisco, where I studied with Christopher Jacobsen and Sonya Tayeh (choreographer on SYTYCD!!). I followed my dream to Illinois where I
danced on scholarship for the University of Illinois Dance Department.

3.  Music is my number one healer, savior, and motivator in life. I
love discovering and being introduced to new artists. I secretly
wanted to be a d.j., but now that I am a spin instructor that dream
has been fulfilled because I get to create my own mash-ups.

4.  If I could, I would live my life as a camper... spending everyday in a tent with a campfire, marshmallows, and the stars.

5.  I love to write. I am in the process of creating my second blog and will be collaborating with my bestfriend/UWS S.C. Manager, Lauren Bruker.

My class is unique because...

I incorporate my training in dance, pilates and kinesiology within my structure and cueing. I am a huge nerd and literally carry an anatomy coloring book around with me in my purse.
My goal is to consistently teach my students about the body and how to apply their kinesthetic knowledge to the bike.

My favorite artists are...

Lucy Guerin (dance choreographer) and
Grace Courvoisier (photographer and dancer).

If I have an hour to myself, I...

Listen to my iPod as I wander around and explore the city with no destination in mind.

My friends know me as...

The goofy one.
