The Soul Rooster game changed when STACEY GRIFFITH joined the team. Bringing her motivational style and party energy to the earliest AM classes made us rethink what a Rooster class could be. Not familiar with Stacey's ride? Just read the post... you'll see what we mean.
How would you define a Soul Rooster?
SNOW, RAIN, SLEET OR NO SLEEP...Your face gets on that bike by SIX AM!!!
Were you always an early riser or is this a new experience for you?
My LA classes in the 90's had me up for the 730 AM timeslot for almost a decade.. 80 of us in the grind every Tuesday and Thursday! And then... The NOONER was born. So this whole up at 515 to be ready by 6 thing is all new to me, but I have to say, it is one of THE BEST of the day... and there are often 5 :))
What is your routine in the morning?
Well the fact that Starbucks doesn't even open until 6 is a real bummer, but my NESPRESSO machine (a gift from my mommy ninjas) is Loaded with Black pellets @ night ( black is SUPER Strong)
Breakfast comes after the first two classes, Oatmeal from starbucks w 2 percent milk for calcium, and nuts for protein!! It gives me enough energy for the next couple of hours, especially if I order a tall iced coffee with it!! ( You asked)
What mood do you try to strike in your early classes?
My early AMs are no different than my 9:30, 10:30 or 1 PM! In fact, they may be a little more intense because the guys are in the house and it's game on! I mix it up every other week in the ride.. Sometimes we climb big WED, and fast fridays skipping the weight series to blast thru calorieville and shoot the number up into the high 900s!
How is your rooster class different than your other classes?
"Boys. BOYS all types of boys.. Black white puerto rican chinese boys" Missy elliot (just sayin) Lots of hard working men @ CLUB ROOSTER
Have you noticed any benefits to rising and riding early?
Makes you feel extremely motivated and highly energetic until about 3...Then you fade. At this point you make a choice.. NAP?? Or carry on and turn in early!!
What time do you typically go to bed at night?
If I don't get a 20 minute nap after teaching 5 classes I'm usually not great company ;) and in bed by 10 pm. Motivating people is one of the most rewarding professions, and one of the most exhausting!
I don't drink red bull, I don't take diet pills, fat burners, amino acids, or anything like that ( well, an all natural add on from Juice generation in my green juice may help!). So there are many many hours of my day that are spent in recovery mode!!
Have you had to make sacrifices for your early schedule?
Honestly just my personal life takes an energy beating. It is sometimes very hard to keep up the pace of "teacher me" on a personal level. Often times people will see me out at a function and say , "Wow, you're so mellow.. I heard you were crazy!!"
In the room I'm crazy...
Out of the room...
I'm just stacey.
